Weekly update July 19 – July 26, 2004 – Hi this is Grandma Joy and I will be doing the update this weekend. Grandpa is busy playing with Jaslynn and Gibby. Jaslynn is doing better this week still a little tired from the Chemo. Her blood count is low but not low enough for blood yet. Gibby and Jaslynn stayed the night with us on Friday and with her Aunt Priscilla on Sat. We try to give the parents a break when we can and the kids really love staying the night. We will have pictures up next week of the trip to Disney world. Ernest wants to re- arrange the web-site so the pictures will down load faster. Jaslynn was very excited to get the bag off on Friday. She is so funny I had called to check on her from work and asked how she was doing and she said “Grandma I have the Bag” I guess she told me. When she has the bag it makes her feel bad and she does not like to move too much. We want to thank everyone for all your doing for us “We are so blessed to have everyone praying for Jaslynn and the family”.

I would like to make a special request for prayers for a friend of mine at work, her 14 yr old daughter got very sick about 10 days ago and they thought that she had cancer of the liver, it wasn’t it is cirrhosis of the liver. The doctors have told them that her Liver is functioning at 20% and needs a liver transplant. Please pray for Amber that God heal and comfort her, and for Ambers family for strength and courage for what they will be going through.

July 22, 2004 Update on Jaslynn, she had a hard day on Wednesday, Jaslynn had 8 hours of chemo, and is weak at this time, she is very nauseated, Wednesday she had a lot of vomiting. And pain on her legs at night. At this time she is still receiving chemo here at home, she has what we call the BAG. This is like a briefcase that has the IV’s with her chemo and fluids. I will have some pictures of her trip to Disney World as soon as she is doing better. We are all praying for her.

July 21, 2004 This is just a short update, Jaslynn and her family are back and they all had fun. Jaslynn will start back on her Chemo today I though she was going to have a few days off but I was wrong. Jaslynn will have a hard day of chemo today and the next 2 days. She was very sad when she learned that she had to go back for chemo today. She says she does not want to go to doctor no more. Please help us pray that she does good. Picture above is just one for now of Jaslynn and Gibby at Disney world.

Please check back daily for the next few days just in case her condition changes from this chemo. I will keep you posted.

This year she wants to go swimming all the time.

Jasylnn and Gibby are counting down the days for their departure to Disney World, we know this is a well deserve trip for Jasylnn and her family they have been through so much and they need a big break. We pray for God to keep all of them safe on this trip and for God to continue to be with them.

Please check back next week for a complete update on graduation will have pictures of graduation.

Weekly up-date May 18 – May 24, 2004 Jaslynn is doing a little better this week, but keeping a very low profile due to her count being at 200. She missed a friend’s birthday party on Saturday the 22nd they sent four bags of candy to her since she was not able to attend. Jaslynn received more blood on May 18th She has a 4 pints of blood so far this past 4 weeks. She is due for 5 more days of chemo next week but the Dr. is going to let us know if it can be put on hold till the week of the 7th. Weekly update May 10 – May 17, 2004 Jaslynn is on her last face of chemo she has 17 weeks of chemo left, out of this 17 weeks she will have 6 weeks of chemo this is because it will be stronger and different. This last week Jaslynn had her first treatment of this stronger chemo and was in pain and vomiting, at about 10pm on May 11, her parents had to call the doctor because Jaslynn was in pain, Jaslynn was put on morphine for her pain. Thanks to her Dad and her Mom they had to inject the morphine them self’s as we would all do for our kids if we had to, because some nurse though it was to dangerous to come out that late. But we will talk about this later. Jaslynn is doing better she gets tired and is a little weak. Jaslynn has not been doing much just resting and a little playing. At this time it is better for her not to be around many people due to her system been down. As many of you know, two days before we found out that Jaslynn had the brain tumor, her dad was hired with SAPD. He accepted the job proudly. After we found out how ill Jaslynn really was he had to put a lot of thought into his new job. We told him to continue his career and we (his family) would all help him out with Jaslynn. He went ahead and took the job because he knew he had to be strong and keep working so that she would be insured. Well we are all proud of him, now on June 4 he will be graduating from the San Antonio Police Department Academy, this is the hardest police department in the state of Texas to get in. It was very hard for him to go with this training knowing that his little girl is at home sick and sometimes in the hospital. But we know that with all the prayers out there it has helped everyone, it has been a long road.

Please check back This next week for complete details on Graduation and the lattes on Jaslynn, and help us pray that she will not be sick on that day so she can go see her dad at Graduation.

Jaslynn we all love you and we are all praying for you.
First of all I am very sorry for a late update but we have been very busy here. Jaslynn had her MRI everything looked great except one spot, the Dr, thinks that it is scar tissue from the radiation. She will have another MRI in 2 months to check on this spot. This last Chemo that was for 5 days was real tuff on her, she had to have 2 pints of blood the following week and ended up in the hospital with a 102 fever and seemed weak to us. Jaslynn got to come home on Sunday and she was happy about that. She is doing a lot better now and she went to the Dr Wednesday the 5th of May and did not need any Blood praise God. Jaslynns mom was telling us that the Dr gave her a bit of a scare because he started ordering the protocol for a relapse for Jaslynn, and Hope asked him what did he mean. And he stated that this is very rare type of cancer and wants to be prepared if Jaslynn has a relapse. Jaslynn has 18 weeks of Chemo left YEAH!!!!!!! This is if she does not miss any Chemo session so far she has not had to. And yes Praise God she has done very good and has kept her spirits up even when she feels down. Like we have said from the beginning We have Faith Hope and Joy in our hearts and God. We also want to thank everyone for his or her prayers it has helped so much. Jasylnn was seen again by the Dr. on Monday the 10th and he wanted her to have another pint of blood.

Weekly up-date April 19-April 26, 2004 Jaslynn had a very rough week she had chemo everyday this past week, after her chemo she would come home and rest and be ready for the next day. Jaslynn is a very strong little girl on Saturday April 24th. The Somerset Vol. Fire Dept. had another blood drive for Jaslynn, and Jaslynn was able to make a 2 hr. appearance, and she still wanted to help hold a sign, as picture above shows. About 15 pints of blood were raised. On Monday April 26, Jaslynn was back in hospital just for 5 hrs. for more blood. Drs. say that she will need more blood by Wednesday April 28. We are all very Thankful that Jaslynn has been doing so well, and again we thank everyone for there prayers.

We again are going to ask everyone for a special prayer for Jaslynn, In about a week Jaslynn is going to be back in the hospital for a second MRI to see if the tumor is coming back or not. We know that with all the prayers that we have all done God has helped her and is going to be there for her again. I will let everyone know the exact date of the MRI as soon as Drs. let us know. Lets Pray

On Monday she started her 3-day chemo and has done real well. This weekend my wife and I and the family volunteered with the 15th Annual Y100 Penny Drive for Make A Wish Foundation. The Make a Wish Foundation grants wishes to children that have life threatening illnesses, and we are happy to say that the penny drive raised over $43000.00, and still counting. Jaslynn was also able to attend the penny drive and was able to meet a lot of people from the Y100 radio station, they always help us advertise Jaslynn blood drives. Jaslynn also got to meet several of the other children that have received wishes that were granted by the Make a Wish foundation. Pictures above show Jaslynn & Gibby at the San Antonio Zoo and at the Y100 Penny Drive. We are very thankful to God that he has given Jaslynn the strength to attend all the functions. Jaslynn We All Love You So Much. And People From Around The World Are Praying For You.
Weekly update March 14 - March 20, 2004. My wife, Joy, and my daughter, Priscilla, took Jaslynn and Gibby to see Monsters Inc. on ice. The kids really enjoyed the show. On Tuesday and Wednesday Hope took Jaslynn and Gibby to have lunch with their friends. On Tuesday they went to McDonalds and on Wednesday they went to Chuck-E-Cheese. Towards the middle of the week she seemed weak and tired. By Thursday evening she was running a fever and had to be admitted to the hospital. Along with the fever her blood pressure and white blood cells were very low, so she was only to have 2 visitors at a time and had to clean up before seeing her. The white blood cells were at about 400, but should have been between 20,000-40,000. During her hospital stay she received more blood. While Jaslynn was in the hospital she hardly ate the food, but we know she loves bean and cheese tacos from Taco Cabana, so we took her one and she ate all of it. She was in the hospital until Sunday. Now she is back home and feeling so much better. Pictures above show Jaslynn during her hospital stay. And a picture with her nurse.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

We believe that prayers are helping a lot. Jaslynn & Gibby miss their mom a lot. Hope is still in the hospital, she has been there for 12 days now. On Saturday January 10 Gibby & Jaslynn got the OK to spend the day at the hospital with their mom. Mom misses them so much too. Hope developed an infection when her appendix busted. At this point doctors have her on medicines to try to fight off the infection. Please keep praying for the family. We, the parents on both sides, are helping them out with the appointments and everything is going well. And Shaun is doing very great at his new job.
Please forward this web-site to your friends, I have noticed that the visits are dropping on this web-site, but I will not give up on asking for prayers.

Weekly up-date December 28 – January 3, 2004 Jaslynn had her chemo this week and she also received one pint of blood. Jaslynn is going to start her radiation on Monday January 5, it will be 5 days a week for 6 weeks. The next 6 weeks will be hard on Jaslynn as she also has to continue her chemo. We would like to ask again for everyone to please keep Jaslynn and all her family in your prayers. Jaslynn and Gibby miss their mommy a lot, Hope (their mom) became ill on December 31, and was taken to hospital, on January 1. She had to have emergency surgery when a ct scan showed that her appendix had busted. During surgery doctors had to flush her system. At this point she was told that she would have to stay in hospital for at least 5 days and that there was a 50% chance they may have to go back in and flush her system again. Hope will be weak and unable to do much for awhile. Please help us pray for her so that she will be able to come home and be with her kids. We will continue to help Shaun and Hope with Jaslynn’s appointments and Gibby returning back to school. Pray that nothing stands in our way. Also for Shaun as he now worries about Jaslynn and Hope being sick, I pray that God give him the strength to keep going through all of this and his new job at the same time.

This week Jaslynn was very happy when I told her that her teacher had visited the web-site and had signed the guest book, she wanted to see it so the pictures above is Jaslynn checking on the web-site and looking at her e-mails. We do read her e-mails to her.

Weekly up-date December 21 – Decemder 27, 2003 We would like to thank everyone again for their prayers. We know and believe they have helped a lot. Jaslynn had her chemo on Monday the 22nd and was sent home with the med backpack for 48 hrs. We were told that by Wednesday she would start to get ill. That’s when we asked for a Special Prayer. We saw that she was starting to feel bad this was on the 23rd, Jaslynn is weak and her hair is still falling out a little bit and she weighs 29pds (she gained a pound) yeah. Jaslynn was very happy after they took off her med backpack. By the 24th “Praise God” she did a complete turnaround and was doing a lot better on Christmas Eve. We had made arrangements with The San Antonio Police Blue Santa to come on Christmas Eve to see Jaslynn and her Brother Gibby. When they saw the Blue Santa they got so excited the police car had the lights and siring on with Blue Santa waving to them. When Blue Santa and the Police officer got out of the car Jaslynn and Gibby were both like wow A Blue Santa came to see us. Both Jaslynn and Gibby were very thankful for the gifts they received from The SAPD and Blue Santa. Jaslynn’s parents would like to thank the; Any Baby Can of San Antonio for setting up the get together for Jaslynn at the Marquis apartments at Castle Hills, the residents there provided gifts and dinner for Jaslynn’s family. The staff, Theresa, Brian, Natalie, Angela, Jenny, Oscar and Irene Thanks for all your help. Please keep Jaslynn in your prayers as she is getting ready to start her radiation soon. Her smiles this week were great. Jaslynn got to do all this with the Doctors OK and under close supervision, and no one sick in the area.
(Dec. 24, 03) Thanks for your prayers, Jaslynn did a complete turnaround, today she is doing alot better. Jaslynn and Gibby got a visit from the SAPD Blue Santa and they had alot of fun.(Thank You SAPD).

(Dec. 22, 03) Jaslynn had a rough day, she had to endure another 8 hour session of chemo. Please help us pray that she has a good Christmas day, because the doctor predicts she will be sick by Wednesday. Jaslynn was sent home with the medicine back-pack which will be giving her additional medicine for the next 2 days. they will come out on christmas eve to remove the medicine back-pack.

Weekly up-date December 14- December 20 2003 Jaslynn had another good week. On Monday she had her regular chemo treatment. Then on Thursday she went to her first radiation appointment. At this appointment they put her to sleep so that they could create a mask to fit her face, this mask will keep her from moving during her radiation treatments. Jaslynn starts her radiation on the week of the 29th. It will be 5 days a week for 6 weeks. On Friday she went to have her blood level checked, and it was low so they sent her to hospital to get 2 more pints of blood. This makes Jaslynn’s fourth transfusion bring it to a total of 11 pints of blood so far. Jaslynn also got to meet Shawn Michaels, the WWE wrestler, she got his autograph and took a picture with him. Toward the middle of the week she did start to feel a little down, not to much. After she received the transfusion she was back to her normal happy self. On Monday our local newspaper came and interviewed Jaslynn and her family. They made front page telling Jaslynn's story and that is helping bring in more prayers. On Monday December 22, 2003 I am going to put up a PO BOX # for Jaslynn and Gibby to receive Christmas and get-well cards, many of our e-mails have asked if they can send something. Again thanks for all your prayers they are working, Praise God.
We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. From all of us.

Weekly up-date December 7 – December 13 2003 Jaslynn had a very good week Drs. had told us that by Wednesday she was going to be sick due to all chemo she got the week before. but on that day she was fine and was able to go out to dinner with us for her grandma’s birthday. I think that God is watching over her and the prayers from all is helping her a lot. I my self believe in prayers and have asked for your help in praying for Jaslynn. On Friday Jaslynn went back to the hospital for 2 more pints of Blood and was able to come home after that. At this point Jaslynn is allowed to be around immediate family members only due to her blood count being low. It is at 400 needs to be around 1500. I would also like to ask for prayer for her big brother Gibby he is worried about his little sister. This week out of the blue Gibby came up to myself and his aunt Priscilla and asked if we had any pencils, and I asked him for what and he told me that he wanted to sell them to make $75 to buy his sister a Christmas present. We told him we would see what we could do to help him earn money for his sisters present. We were very proud of him.

Weekly up-date November 30- December 6, 2003 Jaslynn had a very busy week she had 5 days of chemo and TV news interview to ask for help for her blood drive. Jaslynn also got to go to a Christmas party through the Cancer Society with her brother Gibby and had pictures made with Santa. Dr. also let Jaslynn attend the Blood Drive for couple of hrs and got to meet with the firefighters that help with the Blood Drive. Then Jaslynn and her mother got to go on a pretend airplane ride to the North Pole to visit Santa through the Cancer Society. Jasylnn’s immune system is down this next week because of her 5-day chemo. We ask that everyone keep praying for Jaslynn she has some hard weeks coming up she will be starting her radiation and it will be 5 days a week for 6 weeks along with her chemo.

Weekly update November 23 – 29, 2003 Jaslynn had her Monday Chemo this treatment was an hour long. Jaslynn started running a fever on Tuesday and was not feeling well, very weak and a bellyache. Jaslynns mom contacted the doctor and he wanted to see Jaslynn, so her mom called grandpa Ernest to help take her to the doctor. The doctor checked her blood count and that was fine. The mom advised the doctor that Jaslynn had not been able to go potty and they decided that was why she had the bellyache. The doctor gave a prescription and Jaslynn got to come home, she stayed sick with this until Thursday morning. We had been praying all week that Jaslynn would have a good Thanksgiving, On Thursday morning after Jaslynn woke up she said she had a bellyache about 30 min later Jaslynn was fine and wanting to play."Praise God". Jaslynn was glowing with so much energy we could not believe it. Jaslynn did great the rest of the day played outside in the sunshine and got to ride in her barbie jeep, every now and then she would state her "bellyache was hurting". Friday morning they contacted the doctor and advised him that Jaslynn was still having the bellyache and he stated it was one of the side effects from the chemo. So far Jaslynn is still doing good. Monday she does have her 8 hour session of Chemo which will be very hard on her. We will have the update next week. (We will be working on her Blood Drive this week.)

Weekly update Novemeber the 17th.- November 22, 2003 Jaslynn had her Monday Chemo. She did better than the first time. On Tuesday she started running a fever so her mother, Hope, contacted the Doctor. He said he wanted to see Jaslynn on Wednesday to recheck her blood count. The doctor told Hope that her blood count was down and she needed blood. He told Hope to take Jaslynn to be admitted to the hospital for the blood. Jaslynn's fever came back soon after she arrived at the hospital. The doctor decided it was best if she stayed in the hospital until her blood count was back up, because she is vulnerable to infection when it is down. Jaslynn is a little sad that she is in the hospital but she is doing o.k. Please keep praying for Jaslynn, that God will comfort her and bless her during this illness, and bless Jaslynn with a miracle. As I sit here working on web page I am told that Jaslynn's Blood count is back up and she is comming home today.(Thank you God)

For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end. Psalms 48:14
