Update on Jaslynn Faith Love for Life Blood and Toy Drive. We would like to thank everyone for helping us keep Jaslynn’s legacy going. Saturday was a very good day and everything went very well, there were a lot of toys donated; we also had 52 blood donors and 25 bone marrow donors. We were so excited because one of the Volunteer Fireman that registered last year at one of Jaslynn blood drives to be a bone marrow donor got a call that his bone marrow matched a 65 year young woman that had been diagnosed with Leukemia. He should find out more information this week. We will keep you posted. We would also like to thank everyone for the food that was donated for the San Antonio Food Bank, the food bank was very appreciative for the food. Below is some pictures of the days event and pictures showing toys delivered to Methodist Children’s Hospital.
The Somerset band also came and performed and did a very good job playing some of Jaslynn’s favorites. We hope to have the ROTC and the Somerset band back again next year, it was great to know they were playing for Jaslynn.
The Somerset High School ROTC was there and they helped a lot with everything and also performed.
We also had some vintage cars out for display. They looked awesome, we know that they turned some heads. I’m also looking for a old truck that needs to be restored, I would like it to be used for advertising Jaslynn’s website, Blood Drives, Make a Wish, Eye Bank, Any Baby Can and have inserts from the website of Jaslynn young life.
My wife had collected toys from her work at JP Morgan Chase and the truck was almost ½ full, when the drive was over the truck was overflowing with toys we were excited that we had a very good turnout for the children at the Methodist Children’s Hospital 4th floor Cancer Unit. Thanks to all that donated for the children.
We had started serving the Kilobasa Sausage and Hot Dogs, Thanks to the Somerset Volunteer Fire Department guys and Ernest (not me) for helping with the food everybody enjoyed them. In this picture the Joe with the Bone Marrow Department actually was getting a break he registered 25 Bone Marrow Donors Amen to all that registered.
We had a table set up with Pictures of Jaslynn and the cake (ROTC did a great Job organizing the table). We took the picture of Shaun, Gibby and Hope. The Teddy Bear on the table is the one that the Police Wife Auxiliary had given Gibby when Jaslynn passed away. The Teddy Says “I love you Gibby”. At Five O’clock we set the Birthday Balloons Free in Jaslynn’s Honor It was special to us.
We also had the drawing at five the winner were Cynthia and Victoria no last name given was given. They won a football and the blower. Pizza winners were Kennedy Cuellar, Lisa Tapia, Ms. Uribe , Matthew Ochoa Congrats to all.
The below pictures were taken on Jaslynn’s Birthday when we took the toys to the Methodist Children’s Hospital My wife’s explorer was full to the top in the back and the back seat was full of the stuffed animals. We all helped load the wagons and carts with the toys. We received an appreciation letter from the hospital today it was very nice.
At the end of the delivery of the toys we headed to the cemetery. It is the hardest thing in the world to do is to go visit your child and grandchild at the cemetery. We took Jaslynn Balloons her Dad, Mom and Gibby took Flowers and balloon. Our hearts are still breaking but the Jaslynn Faith Love for Life Blood and Toy drive did help us deal with our grief. Our daughter Priscilla was not able to spend the day with us she was unable to get off work, but she was with us in spirit.
